our first attempt at jumping cross country!

I swapped my dressage saddle for my ancient, falling apart jump saddle on the weekend and hit the road with Lou in tow for a jumping lesson! We did some basic work in the arena before heading out to try our hand at a few cross country jumps in the back paddock to finish up. Lou was a star, especially considering he has hardly jumped for six odd months, so I couldn't have been happier with him. This dressage queen is now saving hard for a new jump saddle - I guess I can call it cross training after all, and my horse will be much happier if he can do his flatwork in the jumps arena instead of getting bored out of his brain doing "real" dressage!

Looks like I might have to be satisfied with being a perfectionist doing eventing dressage so we can do it all - I guess that can only be a good thing! :)

That's so great :) I started jumping my horse last week after 3 years of not jumping (he hurt himself for 6 months then I hurt myself for 2 years, etc lol), when he'd only jumped 6 months before then! Needless to say it wasn't as classy as yours was, but it was so much fun. Great way to break up the routine :)

That looks fun! Armani likes jumping too so we mix up schooling jumps and even some hunter/jumper shows with our dressage. Lou looks like he's having a good time too!
